Knight Rider: Season 1 on DVD

One of the greatest television series' ever finally came to DVD this year. The complete first season is beautifully remastered, and a fourth bonus disc has all kinds of bonus features, and the Knight Rider 2000 made-for-TV movie!

The best episode in my opinion is The Topaz Connection. A Hugh Hefner-type publisher is murdered, and it's up to Michael Knight to comfort (and score with) his daughter while trying to solve his murder. First off Bonnie, the hot mechanic, loads KITT up with every issue of the pornographic magazine. I considered all of your needs she says. Not only is she smokin', and great with engines, but she loves and appreciates porn. Sweet! There's an airplane chase, fist fights, high-daring stunts, and even a super-cliched Vegas montage. Michael and daughter laugh and point in front of a black screen while stock footage of roulette wheels and one-armed bandits is super-imposed on top. Classic!

Yeah, it's über-cheesy, but what a great watch.

Pee-Wee's Playhouse

Growing up, Saturday morning wasn't complete without two things. Pac-Man and Pee-Wee's Playhouse. I loved Pee-Wee. I loved his playhouse. I loved all the crazy residents of the playhouse. I loved the secret word. And then it was gone.

Now it's back on DVD. There are no special features (on this edition, a specials-laden edition is scheduled for early 2005), but the episodes are clearly separated with 6 chapters per. Some things to look for are American Pie's Natasha Lyonne as clubhouse kid Opal, and the occasional double entendre from Laurence Fishburne as Cowboy Curtis. Fans of Law & Order will also appreciate Reba the Mail Lady played by police chief S. Epatha Merkerson
